Exercises to Reduce Lower Back Pain Left Side

Lower back pain, left side is a medical condition that several people go through. Irrespective of the different reasons that may cause the pain, there is an effective way to deal with the pain.

There are various types of stretches and exercises that may help in alleviating the pain to a considerable extent. The right exercises can help in preventing the joints from becoming stiff. Weak muscles and stiff joints can lead to excessive pain and hence, cause more pain. That is why, a person who has been experiencing persistent lower back pain left side, is not recommended to take rest for more than 2 days. Movement is very important to relieve pain. This, however, does not apply to those individuals who have been asked to take rest by their doctors.

Stretches and exercises are beneficial but it is not wise to overexert the body. The exercises are supposed to reduce the pain and not aggravate it in any way. So, one must discontinue doing the stretches if the pain increases.

Stretches for the reduction of back pain include slow and controlled movement of the different body parts. Here are some of the stretches and exercises that can help people with severe lower back pain, left side.

Rock your back – Loosen your body and lie on the floor with your face up. Pull the knees towards your chest and hold them with the help of your hands. Rock your back in order to stretch out this area.

Cobra – Lie on the floor with your face up. Your toes must point backward. Place your hands at your armpits and press them down to raise your shoulders up. Extend your arms while you press your hips against the floor. Hold on to this position for 20-30 seconds.

Cat stretch – Place your body on the floor with your hands and knees facing down. This should create a flat back. Curve your spine to a U shape and hold on to this position for about 10 seconds. Curve the back in the reverse direction so as to hump your spine, just like a cat. Stay in this position for 10 seconds. This whole procedure must be repeated for 5 times.

These are just a few of the many exercises that can relieve a person from lower back pain left side. However, one must not try these without the approval of a doctor.
